Heute: "Logische Rasiermesser" im Einsatz gegen abenteuerliche Behauptungen.
Viele kennen "Occam's Razor": die Idee, dass man die Existenz einer Sache nur annehmen sollte, wenn sie zur Erklärung eines Phänomens absolut notwendig ist. Auch als "Parsimonitätsprinzip" bekannt. Leider ein eher praxisfernes Rasiermesser. Hier sind ein paar nützlichere...
Bekannt als "Sagan's Razor" ist das Statement: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." Wer abenteuerliche Behauptungen aufstellt, sollte außergewöhnliche Belege mitbringen.
Noch fundamentaler ist "Hitchen's Razor" nach Christopher Hitchens: "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence." Was ohne Belege behauptet werden kann, kann auch ohne Belege verworfen werden.
Was tun mit absurden Tweets? Robert Hanlon schlägt dafür einen Razor vor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Nicht auf Boshaftigkeit zurückführen, was auch mit einfacher Dummheit erklärt werden kann. Hohe Twitter-Praxistauglichkeit.
Zum Schluss noch ehrenhalber "Alder's Razor": Was nicht empirisch bewiesen werden kann, sollte nicht diskutiert werden. Auch bekannt als "Newton's Flaming Laser Sword", weil man damit fast alles abrasiert, was außerhalb der naturwissenschaftlichen Themengebiete liegt.
