There is no alt text yet. I have idea to have alt text for screen readers like Mastodon have with some automated scanning of text in picture but this is just idea for future. I know how to improve text mode I just don’t find it useful yet.

Image formats comparison. Pictures are sorted by size, details are shown. Webp is smallest, with some possible image quality loss on some high detailed pictures such as filled with noise. Animated webp files are also supported everywhere, as this image is an animated webp.

This webp is generated by using a program that creates corrupt files from other source files. Most of corrupted webp does not load properly on my image viewer (XnView MP), but when some does load and they have glitchy results. The original image was just image filled with noise as shown on top of picture, the corrupted image that loaded was saved over so proper image would be uploaded, and it would appear like this when loaded in image viewer before saving.

In general, depending on some situations webp is just better format when saving some images, it might be even smaller, compared to other formats, many sites prefer or convert to it amongst other formats.

From these new formats I was fan of FLIF. But it seems that it's creator moved on to develop JPEG-XL (both of which are not supported by browsers). I also like QOI, but it's not for what we are trying to do here (archive memes and other stuff).
